Harris Hill Road Raceway Prequel
I’m going crazy not knowing if I’m going to be able to make this event at Harris Hill Road (H2R), or not. In the meantime, I’d like to share the little bit I’ve learned about this circuit which is about an hour from my home in San Antonio, TX (just off I-35, going towards Austin).
Those of us in the general South & Central Texas region have had to travel all the way to Houston, Dallas or even College Station (all 3 to 5 hour drives) to be able to drive high performance cars the way they were meant to be driven. In development for over a year, H2R just had their official grand opening this past June. It is a 1.8-mile asphalt road course, running 36 feet wide. See the specific plans below – as always, click to enlarge.
The image below is one of the three posted on their website. Compare this picture to the pasture land picture at the top of this post. I’ve heard that the gentle sloping hills mean a lot more at speed!
To better illustrate, here’s some video, my autocross friend & mentor, Jerry, took during an event he attended this past May:
Watching this video, to see where you just came from is a unique perspective. I’ll be hoping to gain an even better perspective by attending this event at the Harris Hill Raceway, to become better Racing Ready!
