A Karting Experience, Part 1
Yesterday, looking through a local newspaper, I found this ad:
I visited the Alamo Karts website, and later decided to visit this karting facility after work today. I swung by the house to pickup my Racing Ready “press pass” (what I wear around my neck on a lanyard to identify myself with RacingReady.com), and off I went. This facility is between northwest San Antonio & Boerne, less than 15 minutes north of my house.
You walk into a wonderful showroom of BMW, Triumph & other high end motorcycles. This is a motorcycle & kart dealership called Alamo Powersports. I found the information desk and asked to see someone about Alamo Karts. I was accompanied down a hall to clean, brightly lit facility & was introduced to Ann Wilson.
And here’s Ann’s business card:
Ann was very hospitable. I introduced myself explaining I wanted to learn about Alamo Karts so I could write about it in my blog. Without hesitation, she said I would need to experience it first hand to be able to write about it. I agreed! Since I was already wearing a long-sleeved shirt, full-length pants and closed shoes, Ann said I was already in an acceptable “uniform”. Then she had me sit down to watch an introductory safety video.
I will go into more depth about what happened next, tomorrow. Suffice it to say, I feel a little more Racing Ready after today’s experience. Also, I think I’m going to be a little sore, tomorrow. More speeding your way in the next post!
Dan
