Vintage Triumph Spitfire @ Auto-X
More fully functioning vintage iron was to be seen at the SPOKES 10/5/2008 autocross event. Don brought his pristine 1979 Triumph Spitfire 1500. He said this was the first year of this model.
In 1983 this car was rebuilt and it still shows well, 25 years later…
It goes well, too. He says this Triumph is stock, even running standard, all-season/M+S (mud & snow) tires. He has been doing well in his class, too; at or near the top in H Stock class this year.
Like many of the autocrossers I see every month, Don is a member of both SASCA & SPOKES.
This past weekend at the 10/19/2008 SASCA autocross, there was a newer blue Triumph TR6 that was giving Don a run for the money.
Unfortunately, I was not able to get any pix or talk to this other Triumph driver/owner (thanks to Vitek who got this great shot of both Triumphs together, with both hoods up at the SASCA 10/19/2008 autocross).
At this past autocross I was more occupied by driving and being a corner worker. I had much less time to interview people and take pix. That’s a trade off I am still trying to deal with, to see how to handle at future autocrosses I participate in.
I’m sure I’ll be able to come up with a win-win solution and move Racing Ready farther into learning about fellow competitors and become more competitive, both on the Web & the Blogosphere.
