A couple of weeks ago I was contacted to help promote the new VERSUS brand, This is the new IndyCar Series Network that will be doing a bang up job with many weekly hours (not just same day) of racing coverage.
For starters as to the flavor of this campaign, I just read 3 interesting VERSUS ads in my most recent issue of AutoWeek. They are promoting the IRL season opener, the Indy Gran Prix at St. Petersburg, on April 5th, 2009. Here are the taglines of the three “It’s A New Race” promotional ads:
- In the three seconds it takes a normal human to yawn, Danica Patrick goes from zero to 100MPH.
- In the time it takes you to zip your fly, Scott Dixon travels the length of two football fields.
- The only vehicles faster and more agile are owned by the U.S. Air Force.
Here is a description about what VERSUS is all about:
VERSUS, the network that celebrates real competition and the exclusive cable television home of the IndyCar® Series, will provide extensive race programming in 2009 for its fans. The network will air more than 130 hours of IndyCar Series coverage throughout the season with a minimum of seven hours each week the network airs a race, the most ever during a race week. The programming will include four hour-long specials in March, additional programming in May surrounding the Indianapolis 500 and three-hour programming blocks on Mondays each race week that will feature flag-to-flag coverage of Firestone Indy Lights events and encores of IndyCar Series races. All IndyCar content from VERSUS will be broadcast and available in HD.
