Karlino Miata New Tires Swap Out – WOW!
WOW! What a difference a tire can make!!!
After almost a week of combing through the various car enthusiasts forums & comparing availability, along with my convenience to Discount Tire, I decided to go with the Falken ZIEX ZE-512 tire, back in the original size of 185/60-14.
Here’s a promotional video – the hype seems to be really true…
It’s a compromise choice, driven by budget considerations, but my first blush impressions are SO much better than the Bridgestone Potenza RE960 Pole Position tires I had mounted on Karlino for about 10 days.
I got home from that tire swap earlier his evening, but not until after doing a quick test drive (10 quick miles). I was able to verify how much I really like these new Falken tires. I knew within the first 10 feet of driving, still in the Discount Tire parking lot, that these tires are really MUCH better for my Miata. I love the way Karlino handles & responds to my steering & acceleration inputs! To sum it up, Karlino is fun to drive again!!!
I’m sure I’ll comment more later as I rack up the daily driver miles… since I won’t be able to autocross for at least 2 more months (till July). You see, I found out today that my full-time job weekend work assignment is for 2 months. So, I’ll have to make the best of it.
Racing Ready feels like a tire test driver – I’ve learned some interesting tire facts & am definitely enjoying these new Falken tires. Now, let’s see how long they last…
